Heroic Northampton School for Boys this afternoon staged a remarkable comeback to win a place in the final of the Daily Mail Cup, to be held at Twickenham.
NSB’s under-18s side found themselves 10-0 down to Warwick School shortly after half-time, in today’s semi-final played at Broadstreet Rugby Club.
However, two kicks by Conor Bullivant and a try by flanker Ollie Hartfield completely an amazing comeback and propelled the Billing Road school into the final.
They will now take on Dulwich College at the home of English rugby later this month.
Northampton School for Boys were already the last remaining state school in the tournament.
Victory was played out before hundreds of people in the crowd, including parents, students and staff who had travelled up from the Northampton school this morning.
The final whistle was greeted by jubilant scenes at the end of the match.
The players have already been congratulated by students across Northampton, as well as former pupils and Northampton Saints.
Ex-NSB student, Paul Diggin, winger for Northampton Saints, tweeted: “Yes yes yes NSB win!!!! Off to twickers!”
The official Saints Twitter account posted a message which read: “Huge congratulations to NSB who will play at Twickenham in the Daily Mail Cup final. Great 13-10 win having trailed 0-10!”
