A well-known Northampton ice cream van has appeared in a national television advert depicting 150 years of British history.

Gallone’s ice cream van made a short appearance in John Lewis’ ‘Never Standing Still’ advert which launched this weekend in celebration of the company’s 150th anniversary.

The company, well known for it’s sentimental Christmas advertising campaigns, included a retro Gallone’s van in a children’s play area set in the 70s.

In the scene, a girl flies down a slide while a mother treats her child to an ice cream from the van in the background.

Established in 1895, Gallone’s, on Welford Road in Northampton, is known across the town for its wide range of traditional ice cream flavours and for naming sundaes after the customers who create them.

The full John Lewis anniversary advert can be viewed at the link below; Gallone’s can appears at 00:45.
