A food bank in Northampton is urgently appealing for more donations after a surge in public demand over the past few months.
The Northampton Food Bank, which hands out food in nine different locations in the town, currently only has enough tinned meat and fish for the next two weeks and is no longer able to guarantee a supply of milk.
A spokesman said: “There has been increased demand for food from Northampton Food Bank in recent months. This has put an enormous strain on our limited resources and volunteers, however we have been able to meet demand through sheer hard work and the generosity of local people and businesses.
“We are really keen to keep offering the level of food and range of nutrition in our food parcels and we know the clients are very grateful for it.”
The food bank is in particular need of UHT milk, pasta, tinned fruit, tinned meat, tinned fish, curry sauces, tea and coffee.
Anyone who would like to donate food can call the food bank on Northampton 716323 or take it to Central Vineyard, Unit G3, Nene Enterprise Centre, Freehold Street, Northampton, NN2 6EF.
