Nightclub creates up to 40 new jobs

UP to 40 jobs will be created by a new nightclub in Corby.

Pictured above is the inside of two-storey Rockafellas that is being built as part of the Rockingham Park leisure complex and the owner hopes it will attract revellers from across the county.

A wine bar will make up the ground floor and clubbers can dance the night away upstairs to various types of music.

It is expected that up to 40 bar staff, glass collectors and other workers will be employed at the site, which is Corby’s first out-of-town purpose-built nightclub.

Anil ‘Rocky’ Duggal, who owns the club with his sister Meera Duggal, said: “We’ll be catering for all age groups and hope to attract people from all the surrounding villages. The wine bar is for older groups aged 30 upwards and there’ll be dance music for those 18 and above upstairs.

“Most people from Corby go out of town for a night out and nobody comes to Corby. This is going to attract people to the town.”

Lee Adlington, 21, from the Exeter estate in Corby, said: “It will be good to have somewhere else to go for a change. I like the Old Village but there’s no harm in having another nightclub in Corby.

“I do go in the Wetherspoons so it means we’ll have somewhere to go afterwards without going all the way back into town.”

The complex includes a restaurant with a late licence.

It is the sixth unit to open at the Dunbar Bank-financed Rockingham Park since the leisure complex was opened last year. It is surrounded by a Wetherspoons pub, Greggs, Subway and Domino’s food outlets and the UK’s first Hampton by Hilton hotel that opened in March.

The application for the nightclub was passed by planners in February, and a letter of support for the application was received by the adjacent Hilton hotel. It will open in June.

Leisure park developers Off Developments said it had interest in the remaining space at Rockingham Park. Last year the Evening Telegraph revealed a budget supermarket could be interested in taking a space.
