New appeal over schoolgirl missing for seven weeks

Police today renewed their appeal for missing teenager Melissa Mac to come forward.

The 15-year-old schoolgirl hasn't been seen since she went missing from Northampton town centre on Friday February 15.

Police believe she went missing on her own terms and may still be in the Northampton area, but are concerned for her welfare because of her age.

Detective Inspector Julia Potts, said: "We are appealing for Melissa to get in touch with us or her family.

"We believe she has gone away on her own free will but we want her to come forward and let us know she is safe and well."

There has been no confirmed sightings of the girl since she went missing and Northamptonshire Police are urging anyone who may think they have spotted her in the past seven weeks to contact us.

She is from a Chinese/Vietnamese origin and is about 5ft 4ins tall, she has straight black hair.

She is a popular girl and officers are asking anyone who may know of her whereabouts to contact them on 08453 700700.
