New housing estate is planned for Moulton
Developers have revealed plans to build a new housing estate on the edge of a Northamptonshire village.
Plans have been submitted to Daventry District Council to build 150 new homes on the outskirts of Moulton, a development that would include a new village hall, library and doctors' surgery built on land in Sandy Hill Lane.
Sandy Hill Developments Ltd said the new estate would have a distinctive appearance while fitting in with the rest of Moulton.
They said: "The proposed development responds to the need to create a high quality contemporary place to live that meets local demands whilst strengthening Moulton's identity."
The proposed development site is a 15-acre piece of land on the east of Moulton, close to the A43. The developers have said number 37, Overstone Road, would have to be demolished while the garden of number 39 would also be included as part of the development site.
Houses would range from two to four bedrooms and a 24,000-square-foot area would be given over to employment land.
Sandy Hill said the development would improve the area by introducing new facilities and removing old ones from the site.
The firm said: "Development will lead to the permanent removal of Alibones waste recycling and transfer station, reduce the number of lorry movements along Sandy Hill Lane and Overstone Road and remove the associated problems with these movements including noise, overlooking and congestion.
"Its removal will also reduce the waste, noise and air pollution associated with the processes undertaken at the recycling and waste transfer centre."
The plans will be considered by councillors later this year.
