The new headteacher of Kingsthorpe College in Northampton said she thinks the secondary school is a “sleeping giant” that has a massive amount of potential to improve.

Debbie Morrison, who took over the 1,400-pupil school last month, said she had been impressed with the students and staff and predicted the school would achieve its “best set of GCSE results ever” in this summer’s exams.

Mrs Morrison took up her first headship in 2001 at the age of 37 at Mitchell High School, Stoke-on-Trent, before moving on to her second headship in 2007 at Coundon Court School, Coventry. She was awarded an OBE in 2005 for services to education.
