Macmillan Cancer Support is calling on businesses across Northamptonshire to help it raise £15 million by letting staff enjoy coffee and cake.
The charity is hoping for dozens of firms to take part in this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, with the aim of making it the biggest in the event’s 23-year history.
The official coffee morning day is September 27, but the charity said businesses could take part whenever suited them.
Susan Napoleon, Macmillan’s fund-raising manager in Northamptonshire, said: “We’ve had a good response from local firms so far, but we are hoping even more will get involved.
“The feedback we always get from businesses is that the event is really easy to organise and it’s great for staff morale.
“Quite a few firms have said they’ve found their support for Macmillan struck a chord with customers, as well because so many people know someone who has had cancer.
“If any business or organisation is interested in holding a coffee morning, they can get in touch for a free fund-raising pack.”
The charity is hoping to raise more than £50,000 from the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in Northampton and expects more than 7,000 people across the county to take part in the event.
Among those taking part will be the community engagement team at The University of Northampton, who will hold a coffee morning on campus to tie in with a networking event, promoting volunteering opportunities in Northampton.
