Motorists warned of months of delays on A45 in Northampton
The Highways Agency has warned motorists to expect delays on the A45 near Brackmills in Northampton until October.
The agency will be carrying out embankment works, safety fencing repairs, and street lighting improvements on the A45 westbound entry slip road at Brackmills, Northampton from Monday, August 11 until Friday, October 10.
There will be narrow lanes and a 40mph speed restriction on the entry slip road only, 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works. The A45 westbound carriageway and the entry slip road will remain open during the day, but full overnight closures of the westbound entry slip road will be required, as will lane one closures on the A45 westbound carriageway past the works.
The slip road closures will take place between 8pm and 6am each night from August 11 to 15 and October 2 and 3. The A45 lane one closures will take place between 8pm and 6am on September 8 and 9 and on September 26.
During the overnight closures traffic wishing to join the A45 westbound carriageway will be diverted eastbound along the A45 to Barnes Meadow and return along the A45 westbound. Clear diversion signs will be in place.
Highways Agency project manager Nick Cook said: "The works are essential for the continued safety of all road users using the A45. Even though we do have some overnight closures of the entry slip road, we will be keeping the slip road open for a good majority of the time to limit any delays.
"Work will be carried out during the daytime Mondays to Saturdays, and for the safety of all road users and the workforce we ask people to take care when driving through the road works and observe the 40mph speed restriction."
