Marathon ride on bicycles made for two

A group of 80 tandem cyclists – and their 40 bikes – stopped by at a Northamptonshire pub during a marathon bike ride which they completed in double-quick time.

The group, led by founder of the group, Graham Adams, cycled from London to Shuttleworth in Bedfordshire and back in less than 48 hours. On the way there they made a detour and stopped at the Navigation Inn in Cosgrove for a pub lunch and, suitably refuelled, continued on their way.

Mr Adams, a former 24-hour tandem time trial champion, said: "It really started after I and some friends went away on a tandem cycling holiday in 1965. We enjoyed ourselves so much we did it again the next year and ever since. It's great that it has grown so big but we do it for a bit of fun really."
