Lynn Wilson: Your tributes to 'deeply passionate' man

Here are tributes received by email to Lynn Wilson, who has died following a car accident in Scotland.

I worked for Wilson Connolly formerly Wilcon homes for many years. Lyn had a heart of gold. When he found out one year, at a Christmas Party, that I was a huge Mark Ramprakash fan, he gave me his box at Northants CCC to watch the next match against Middlesex (who Mark played for at the time). Unfortunately for me Mark was on England duty that day and Lyn was upset that I hadn't had the chance to meet my hero, so as a consolation he had John Emburey present me with a signed cricket bat which sits pride of place in my house. My thoughts go out to his wife and children. He was a very special man.

Gill Masters (formerly Wheatley)

I first knew Lynn when I was a young man learning my cricket at the Saints in the 1970s. He was a total inspiration. He always had time for people. He was both the greatest and the humblest of men. I am so very, very sorry to hear of his death.

Tom Carmichael

It is a tragic situation and my thoughts are with Lynn's family. I worked for Wilson Connolly for many years and it was a very well respected and successful company and a fitting legacy to Lynn's achievements in the business world.

Bob Pickthall, Divisional Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey and formerly Wilson Connolly

Lynn Wilson's association with Oakham School began when he attended the school as a boy. Having a capacity to enjoy everything in life, he always reflected positively on his years here, but was delighted to tell me that he thought the school just got better and better. He served Oakham superbly as a trustee and he was a generous benefactor who is remembered particularly in the Wilson Playing Fields and Pavilion and for his support of talented young sportsmen whose careers he followed with characteristic enthusiasm. He will be sorely missed by all those associated with Oakham School and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Judy, and with his sons Giles and Nick and the rest of the Wilson family at this time.

Dr JAF Spence, Headmaster, Oakham School

Deeply saddened to hear of this news. Your kind generous hospitality in Barbados will never be forgotten. It was a privilege to be of service to you over many years. Our sympathies go to Judy, Nick, Giles and all their families.

Perry & Jo Chandler, Chandler Communications

Farewell Lyn, remembering the good times we had in the past.

Barry Mansfield (Mens Own RFC)

Very sad to hear this news I was the Landlord at his local village pub in Holcot for over 9 years and now living in South Africa know he will be missed by his numerous here. My condolences go his widow Judy and family.

Robert d Buckler Kruger, Park South Africa

Deeply shocked to hear this sad news. I first met Mr Wilson 15 years ago when we both worked for Northants Cricket Club. He was so dedicated, not only to the Club but to all his other varied interests, and deeply passionate about sport within the County. I had the utmost respect for him and my condolences go his widow Judy and family.

Lyndsey Hutchings

Very sad end for a very good decent generous family man.

Sympathies to the family.

It is a terrible shock. I have known Lynn for many years, right back to our school days. I remember helping him celebrate his 21st birthday. In recent times he has given wonderful support to the boxing club when we have held tournaments at the County Ground's Lynn Wilson Centre and he has helped with sponsorship as well. My sympathies go to his wife and family, who I know are a very close knit family."
