A lorry driver has been airlifted to hospital after his vehicle, containing several tonnes of grain, overturned on the A43 this morning.
The lorry was travelling southbound on the A43 near Syresham shortly after 8.20am when it overturned, spilling grain all over both carriageways the road.
Police closed the road in both directions and Northants Fire & Rescue were also called to the scene.
A diversion has been put in place but motorists are being advised to avoid the A43 as there are long tailbacks.
The 39-year-old lorry driver suffered head injuries and briefly lost consciousness after his vehicle collided with the central reservation and rolled onto its side.
The Northamptonshire & Warwickshire air ambulance was called shortly before 9am and the driver had regained consciousness but had sustained a head injury and was in a state of confusion.
The driver was then flown to University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire for further assessment.
