Jamiroquai musician to open May fair

A former member of an award-winning band will open a county fair and witness the crowning of the May Queen.

Toby Smith, who used to be part of Jamiroquai, will open the annual Weston and Lois Weedon May Day Country Fair in Weston at noon next Monday.

Each year the two villages join forces to celebrate the May Day Holiday with plenty of family attractions.

A spokesman for the event said: "Held in and around the fields and barns on the Helmdon Road, Weston, the May Day Fair is one of the longest running traditional fairs in rural Northamptonshire."

At noon the May Queen, Lucy Kit-Bird, accompanied by her attendants, Rosie Nichols and Martha Palmer, will be crowned. This will be followed by May Pole dancing by the children of St Loys School.
