Jack and Amelia were the number one names given to babies in Northampton in 2013, a survey has revealed.

The list, compiled by Bounty Parenting Club, also shows that Daisy, Freya and Ella are among the names given to baby girls in Northampton that are bucking national baby naming trends for 2013.

Boys names Freddie, Leo, George and Riley also proved more popular than the rest of the UK.

Lisa Penney, spokesman for Bounty said: “The rising fame of Joey Essex no doubt influenced this years’ highest climbing name which leaped a massive 68 places, breaking into the boys’ Top 100 at number 86. The Towie star’s catchphrase ‘Reem’ even appeared on some birth certificates.

“The names that celebrities choose for their own babies also has an effect on trends. Ivy was the fastest rising girls’ name in the past year and most likely triggered by Beyonce and Jay-Z’s baby daughter, Blue Ivy.”
