Iceland step in to take over Woolies sites
Frozen food giant Iceland has bought 51 former Woolworths stores and plans to create 2,500 new jobs - but Northampton's store is not on the list.
The announcement comes just days after Woolworths stores closed their doors for the very last time, including the firm's Abington Street branch in Northampton.
Iceland tried to buy all of the 815 Woolworths stores when it first went into adminstration but the company rejected their offer.
Three-quarters of the purchased stores are in the South of England and 10 are in London.
