Grieving daughter of Northampton man murdered in the Philippines: 'Help bring dad home'

The grieving daughter of a murdered father-of-three from Northampton has revealed her family has only raised £300 towards the estimated £10,000 they need to fly his body home from the Philippines.

James Bolton, 50, formerly of Harefield Road, in Blackthorn, was among nine victims allegedly shot dead by the same gunman, at his new home, around 50 miles from the Filipino capital Manila.

His daughter, Becky Bolton, 21, who now lives in Stoke-on-Trent, said the family were desperately trying to raise the estimated 10,000 they need to repatriate his body via a Facebook page.

Speaking on behalf of the family, she said they were desperately trying to give her father the "funeral he deserves".

Becky said: "He was a good man, a caring father, with three children and six grandchildren. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Everyone who knew him will miss him.

"We have tried every official avenue for help but to no avail. This has left us crying out for help. While we are grateful to the few who have already donated we are miles away from getting him home. We just want to bring him back so we can give him the funeral he deserves and say our goodbyes."

She said the family was receiving no financial help from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and has now enlisted the help of MP for Northampton North Michael Ellis.

Becky added: "Getting him home would give us a bit of hope from what has been a nightmare situation. He has not only been murdered, his apartment has also been ransacked. This means we can't even have any of his personal belongings for memories."

Mr Bolton, who used to work for a financial services firm in Northampton, was shot dead alongside his Filipino girlfriend earlier this month.

His alleged killer, Mark Dizon, a 28-year-old computer technician, has been charged with killing nine people in three separate robberies, including six Filipinos, an American and a Canadian.

To donate visit the "bring our dad home" page on Facebook. Or the family has asked for cheques to be sent to the Chron at Northamptonshire Newspapers, Upper Mounts, Northampton, NN1 3HR.
