A casino in Northampton town centre is hoping to help people save money during the recession by offering a Credit Crunch Lunch for only 99p.
Aspers, in Commercial Street, has launched a new menu offering a choice of three meals: sausage and mash, three-bean chilli and chicken curry, all for less than 1.
General manager Mark Darnell said: "There's so much talk of doom and gloom and tightening budgets at the moment, so we thought we would do something to lift people's spirits.
"We only started this offer a few days ago but already we're seeing business people and shoppers come in for a tasty meal.
"We're pleased to be able to help people in this time of recession."
Maggie Ladbrook, marketing and events manager at Aspers, said: "It has been going really well we have had lots of interest and a really good response to the food."
The Credit Crunch Lunch is available between noon and 6pm every day and Aspers is planning to run the offer indefinitely.
Mr Darnell said: "As long as there's a credit crunch, we'll be dishing up our 99p lunch".
Aspers is only able to serve lunches to people aged 18 or over because of licensing restrictions at the casino.
