A ten-year-old girl was walking in the woods near Northampton when a tree branch fell and landed on her.

The girl sustained facial and back injuries after a tree branch fell on her whilst walking in Hayes Wood near Sywell.

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) were first on the scene. The crew quickly immobilised the patient before transferring her to a land ambulance, out of the rain.

The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was also called to the scene at around 3.40pm on Friday and landed around 18 minutes later.

A spokesman for WNAA said: “The crew from WNAA provided advanced pain relief before transferring the patient to the aircraft where she was then taken to University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire.”
