Funeral set to be held for tragic Ou Est Le Swimming Pool star Charles Haddon
Hundreds of friends, family and well-wishers are expected to descend on the village of Yelvertoft on Saturday for the funeral of tragic pop star Charles Haddon.
The 22-year-old musician died last month after apparently plunging from a 60ft mobile phone mast he had climbed backstage after performing at the sell-out Pukkelpop festival in Belgium.
The body of the lead singer of electro pop group Ou Est Le Swimming Pool was found in the festival's car park and Belgian police have said they were treating his death as suicide.
His funeral will me held at All Saints Church in Yelvertoft at 2pm, with a public address system set to be installed to relay the service to all those unable to get into the church.
Derek Williams, spokesman for the Peterborough Diocese, said: "It may be an event of interest to the media and it is possible that fans may congregate in Yelvertoft village, and there will be a police presence.
"The family are anxious that their son's funeral is treated with dignity and respect. Members of the church have known Charles and his family from a young age, and have been offering appropriate pastoral support to the family at this tragic time."
Mr Haddon, who was a former pupil of Rugby School and was well known on the Northampton music scene, moved to London in 2008, where he met the other members of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool.
The group released their debut single Dance the Way I Feel in 2009 followed by These New Knights and Jackson's Last Stand this year. They were due to release their debut album Christ Died for Our Synths in October.
