Funeral of soldier killed in action to be held
The funeral of a military policeman from Brackley who was killed in action in Afghanistan earlier this month will take place next week.
Cpl Nicholas Webster-Smith, aged 24, of the Royal Military Police, known as 'Nic' or 'W-S' to his family, friends and colleagues, was killed in action while carrying out his duties at Blue 25, an Afghan National Police checkpoint in the Nad e-Ali district of Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on Tuesday, November 3.
The funeral will take place at 11am on Thursday at St Peter's Parish Church, Brackley. Cpl Webster-Smith's family have requested donations be made to a selection of charities in lieu of flowers.
A collection will be held during the service and money raised will be donated to the Royal British Legion, the Royal Military Police Benevolent Fund, the Army Dependents Trust and the Special Care Baby Unit at Horton Hospital.
Anyone wishing to make a donation can send a cheque payable to any of these charities to WJ Franklin and Son, 30 High Street, Brackley, NN13 5IJ.
