Funeral home attacked by vandals
A funeral business in Northampton town centre, which took the unusual step of putting a charity display in its window, has been attacked by vandals.
Ann Bonham & Son set up the fund-raising display for Northamptonshire charity Deaf Connect in a window of its St Giles Street premises earlier this month.
But on Monday night, vandals smashed the large plate of glass, ruining the display.
Funeral director Colin Wyles said: "It seems somebody came and put a brick right through it.
"Fortunately there was nothing there for them to steal, but the really disappointing thing is I didn't get a single call from any members of the public to tell me what had happened."
The window was broken some time on Monday night. Although shards of glass hit the Deaf Connect display it was not seriously damaged and will be put back up.
Mr Wyles said: "There have been five or six windows smashed along St Giles Street in the past few weeks.
"It's just mindless vandalism, but you would expect people would have a bit more respect for a funeral home."
Anyone who knows anything about any of the incidents in St Giles Street can call Northamptonshire Police on 08453 700700.
