Former Northampton town centre pizza place could be turned into world '˜street food' restaurant
A plan has been submitted to Northampton Borough Council to convert the building once occupied by Pizza Derngate into a new eatery called Foodies Rocks.
If approved, the restaurant directly opposite the Royal & Derngate would offer dishes from around the globe, including savoury and sweet food from the streets of India, Taiwan, China and Mexico among others.

A planning statement submitted as part of the application says: “The establishment fits in with the culture quarter of Northampton. The concept compliments the cocktail and food bar two doors down, and the restaurant on the same street.
“It is aimed at students, families with children, theatre enthusiasts, couples and friends.
“This is a unique and interesting concept for the people of Northampton.”

The bottom floor of the two-storey venue would feature table football and an “art gallery” and the menu aims to offer options for breakfast lunch and dinner and “quality coffee throughout the day including evenings.”
Northampton Borough Council will decide on the plans by March 31.
