People in Northampton are being advised to avoid the area near Leyland Industrial Estate in Wellingborough due to a “hazardous” smoke plume from a large blaze.
The fire broke out before 9am this morning and Northamptonshire Police has said the Irthlingborough Road junction with Embankment in Wellingborough is currently closed due to the fire.
Northants Fire & Rescue said 14 crews and a total of 60 firefighters were at the scene.
A spokesman for the fire service said people living near the area are being advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to a “hazardous” smoke plume.
The industrial estate is on the eastern edge of Wellingborough, off the B571 Irthlingborough Road.
A police spokesman said: “The Senwick Road junction with Irthlingborough Road is closed to all traffic in the direction of Irthlingborough and the Leyland Trading Estate.
“The Sidegate Lane junction with Irthlingborough Road is also closed to all traffic in the direction of Wellingborough.
“People are advised to avoid the area and those living in the vicinity are asked to keep windows and doors closed.”
