Final tickets fail to sell

Northampton Saints Rugby Club have revealed they will have to send back around 250 tickets for Sunday's LV= Cup final at Worcester after failing to sell their full allocation.

The club was given 4,600 tickets for the game against Gloucester to sell in seven days, but a ballot for season ticket holders and then a general sale have failed to shift the tickets in time, with only around 4,000 fans planning to travel.

Many blamed the location of the game and the fact it is on the same weekend as the final round of the Six Nations tournament.

Saints boss Jim Mallinder said: "It is slightly disappointing for everyone that it is not at Twickenham. It is a cup final and will be a packed ground with two sets of fans that are equally vocal and passionate about their teams. The fans miss out a little bit by not going to such a fantastic ground as Twickenham but I can understand the organisational issues of a week's notice to get everybody down there."
