Family appeal to bring body home

THE children of Northampton man, who was murdered allegedly by a suspected serial killer in the Philippines, have launched an appeal to raise the money needed to repatriate his body.

James Bolton, formerly of Harefield Road, Blackthorn, was shot and killed by a gunman at his house in Angeles City, in the Philippines, two weeks ago.

It is believed Mr Bolton, aged 51, and his girlfriend were killed by a serial killer who has since been charged with murdering nine people.

Mr Bolton's children have now launched an online appeal to raise the 10,000 they need to repatriate their father's body.

Becky Bolton wrote on the internet Facebook page: "Me and my family have lost our dad in a tragic death overseas.

"We cannot get him home because they are asking for 10,000 just to bring him back and we cannot afford that.

"Me, my sister, and brother are all asking everyone for any help they can. We're not asking for a lot just what you can give, it all adds up and means we can give our dad the funeral he deserves."

She added: "No one will help us, not even the British Embassy."

In January 2008, Mr Bolton spoke to the Chron about his "anger" after he was charged with attempting to murder his elderly mother, only to see the case against him dropped due to a lack of evidence.

Mr Bolton was wrongly accused of tampering with a syringe which administered twice the prescribed amount of pain relief to his mother Sylvia, who was in a hospice in Lincoln.

Speaking to the Chron after the case against him was dropped, Mr Bolton said: "We are all glad that this is over and done with, and obviously it's a relief, but I'm absolutely disgusted that it ever got as far as it did.

"There was never any evidence that I'd done anything wrong, but the police seemed to ignore that," he added.

Becky, aged 21, said yesterday: "He was a good man, a caring father, with three children and six grandchildren. Everyone who knew him will miss him.

"We just want to bring him back so we can give him the funeral he deserves and say our goodbyes."
