Fallen trees causing travel disruption in Northamptonshire

Poor weather is affecting travel plans

Poor weather is affecting travel plans

Two roads in the county are running slowly after high winds last night brought down two trees.

The B573 Northampton Road in Earls Barton is congested near the West Way junction.

And Wheatfield Road South in Abington, Northampton, is very slow both ways between Briton Road and Birchfield Road East.

On the rail lines London Midland has cancelled two trains from Northampton this morning - one to Euston and another to Birmingham New Street - but the weather has so far caused few problems for those leaving the town by train.

Meanwhile, in a planned Christmas Eve change to timetables, from 1.15pm trains between London Euston and Northampton/Birmingham New Street and between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International/Coventry/Northampton will operate at a reduced level of frequency, with services closing down earlier.

The company has lifted ticket restrictions so passengers can travel on any of London Midland’s trains on Christmas Eve.

Passengers who were unable to travel on Monday due to the severe weather conditions will also be able to use their tickets on the day.

Timetables and journey planning information, which can be accessed at www.londonmidland.com have been updated to reflect the Christmas and New Year timetable changes. This allows customers to check their journey times in advance, or on the move via the mobile site. iPhone users can also download the London Midland app.

Detailed information on the Christmas and New Year timetable can be found at www.londonmidland.com/christmas&nbsp
