Dumped TV found in clean-up

A LARGE television was among the items found dumped during a litter pick in Collyweston.

Corby and East Northamptonshire MP Phil Hope joined villagers for the clean-up on Saturday, held as part of the Campaign to Protect Rural England Northamptonshire’s Stop the Drop Campaign.

The team, including parish council chairman Fiona Cowan, donned high-visibility jackets and helped to pick up rubbish with sticks.

They filled a dozen bags of waste and recovered a number of dumped items.

Mr Hope said: “I really enjoyed showing my support of the Stop the Drop campaign by helping the residents of Collyweston on their litter pick.

“I can’t stand litter myself, and when I talk to my constituents litter is one of the issues that concerns them the most.

“So I think it is vital we do all we can to highlight the problem and try to re-educate those people who think it is OK to pollute our environment by dropping litter or by flytipping.

“I would like to urge everyone to get behind the campaign by either organising a litter pick themselves or by joining one in their community.”
