Drug abuser died despite trying to clean up
A former drug addict with "too much to live for" died from a heroin overdose.
Duncan Tarbox, aged 21, had a history of heroin abuse but had sought treatment and finished a drug substitute programme a month before he died.
In a statement read to the Northampton Coroner's Court, Ian Tarbox said his son was "his usual happy self" the night before he died.
Mr Tarbox's carer Caroline Bridge found Duncan's body in his bedroom at his father's house in Long Buckby, on the morning of April 20.
Drug paraphernalia was found by the body of Mr Tarbox, who was from Rugby.
Duncan's mother Jacqueline Dhokia told the inquest her son had previously confided in the family about his drug use and had asked for help to get clean.
She said: "The last thing I said to him was 'don't take any drugs' and he said 'Mum, why would I? I've got too much to live for'."
Coroner Anne Pember recorded a verdict of accidental death.
