Dramatic start to festival

BUDDING performers are preparing for the Oundle Festival of Music and Drama.

The event, which starts today, is celebrating its centenary and pupils from Brigstock Primary School will be performing choral speech tomorrow.

Headteacher Tim Leah said: “We take part every year. It’s a very good experience for the children in developing literacy skills and speaking in public.”

The children will be reading two poems in front of an audience. This year, organisers have introduced a Young Performer of the Year class to go alongside the Young Musician of the Year competition.
