Deaths of 55 children have been investigated by authorities in Northamptonshire over past two years
New figures have revealed an independent panel probed the deaths of 55 children in Northamptonshire in the past two years.

A report published by the Local Safeguarding Children Board for Northamptonshire highlighted dozens of cases were examined by the Child Death Review Committee since it was formed in April 2008.
It has been revealed that, of the 55 deaths, 37 were classed as 'expected' and a further 18 were 'unexpected'.
The report read: "The Child Death Review Committee meets regularly to review anonymised data on all child deaths occurring in Northamptonshire, with the potential to carry out more detailed specific or thematic reviews if required.
"It reviews all child deaths in order to understand why children die and to make recommendations with the aim of improving services to bereaved families.
"The panel considers whether some child deaths are preventable and examines trends and patterns to identify ways of preventing similar deaths in future."
The panel considers any health, environmental, social and cultural factors that may have led to the death of a child and any contact with social services prior to their passing.
The figures also showed that 30 of the 55 deaths were of babies less than one month old. A further seven were under one year old, nine were aged between one and four, eight were aged five to 15 and one was aged between 16 and 18.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that a total of 232 children were currently the subject of a Child Protection Plan (CPP) in Northamptonshire. This compares to a highpoint of 353 in 2003 and a low of 157 in 2008.
Of the 232 children, 25.9 per cent were from Northampton, while 13.8 per cent hailed from the Daventry and Towcester area. Wellingborough had the biggest proportion of children under a CPP, with 34.1 per cent.
The report revealed that 8.6 per cent of those children were made the subject of a CPP due to concerns of sexual abuse, with 28 per cent suffering from neglect and 35.3 per cent monitored following concerns over their emotional well-being.
The report stated: "There is an expectation that there will be an overall national increase in the number of children with a child protection plan following the reports into the death of Baby P."
