Cross dresser 'given warnings over schoolgirl outfit'
A cross-dresser who dressed in a schoolgirl uniform was given repeated warnings after parents said their children were scared of him.
Peter Trigger, aged 59, was handed a five-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order at Northampton Magistrates' Court and banned from wearing the outfit at certain hours during the school day.
Mr Trigger, of Farndon Close, Thorplands admitted that he was fond of wearing a short skirt to go for walks near his home.
However, parents walking with their children to nearby Woodvale Primary School claimed he had bent over, showed his bare thighs and indicated he was wearing no other clothes.
The court heard several witness statements from parents whose children had been scared and confused by Mr Trigger's behaviour. All of the parents said they feared for their children's safety.
The matter has got so bad that they have stopped walking their children to school on their own and now walk in groups or take the long way round.
Mr Trigger, who is a full-time carer for his elderly mother, denied causing alarm, harassment or distress to parents or children and claimed he had been insulted and threatened by parents while wearing his school girl uniform so had taken to wearing a long blue coat over his outfit from May this year.
Mr Trigger was banned from wearing a skirt or showing bare legs on a school day between 8.30am and 10am and between 2.45pm and 4pm and ordered to pay 250 costs.
A borough council spokesman added: "Various agencies have tried stepping in to explain how his behaviour is affecting others, but he has taken none of this on board and is adamant that he can dress however he likes.
"We appreciate that Mr Trigger has a right to dress how he likes, but not if it is causing distress or alarm to others, particularly young children, which is the case here."
