Concern over street safety
Firefighters cordoned off a busy town centre street in Northampton after a sheet of metal hanging from a sports shop was deemed a danger to shoppers.
A crew from Mereway was called to JD Sports in Abington Street, Northampton just after noon yesterday.
Thom Stitt, watch manager at Northamptonshire Fire Control, said: "Crews from Mereway attended at the beginning but because of the height, we had to get a turntable ladder to remove the sheet of metal.
"Due to the public safety risk we set up a cordon to keep the public out of the risk area. When the ladder arrived we were able to safely remove the metal and the scene was declared safe."
