Church windows smashed by vandals
Vandals have smashed two stained glass windows at a church in a Northamptonshire village causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Police were called to Bugbrooke's St Michael's and All Angels church at around 9.45pm on Sunday to find the Remembrance Window and the St Michael Window damaged.
The Rev Stephen French described the attack as "mindless vandalism".
He said: "That's one of the most beautiful memorial windows I think I have ever seen. It dishonours the people it was put up for and it's anybody's guess how much it will cost to repair.
"It all depends on whether they can repair it in situ or not, but it will be a few thousand pounds.
"The window I'm talking about is a First World War memorial, so I would say it was put up in the 1920s. From what I can see, one other has been damaged and my guess is that it is Victorian.
"I've tried to understand people who do that but I can't. We will now be looking at putting up anti-vandalism protection."
Anyone who saw the incident can call Northamptonshire police on 08453 700700.
