Child actor chasing TV role to advertise Lego
A child actor from Northamptonshire is building his way to stardom with Lego, after reaching the finals of a competition to be in the next Lego City television advert.
Harry Mockett, 10, of Harpole, near Northampton, entered the competition run with children's channel Nickelodeon, without telling parents Sue and Ian, so he could surprise them.
The youngster, who attends Harpole Primary School, beat more than a thousand other entrants with his audition, which included singing Sweet Home Alabama.
Harry now faces an online vote before the two winners are announced later this month, but said he was confident about victory.
He said: "It was really good; there was lots of Lego and I got a goodie bag.
"It was on the Nickelodeon television channel, so I signed up on the Nickelodeon website and never told mum and dad because I wanted it to be a surprise if I got in."
He added: "I like having the challenge of building something out of Lego and you can play with it afterwards."
The primary school pupil, who made the shortlist for the television show Britain's Got Talent, is now rehearsing for the Royal and Derngate's production of Oliver! and took part in last year's 101 Dalmatians shows.
Sue, Harry's mother, said she was very proud of him.
"He loves singing, dancing and acting and he's performing at the Harpole Scarecrow Festival," she said.
"He sang Sweet Home Alabama in his audition and that would have sold it, because he's got a lovely voice."
Voting for the winners of the Lego City competition runs for two weeks.
