A Northampton homeless shelter will launch its collaboration with a new social enterprise operation at a charity dinner.

The Hope Centre, based in Oasis House, Campbell Street, will host a fund-raising gala dinner at the Park Campus restaurant at the University of Northampton in Boughton Green Road, Kingsthorpe, on Saturday, March 2.

The black-tie event will officially launch the centre’s new trading arm, Hope Enterprises, which has been set up to help homeless people get back into employment and earn trading income for the charity.

Chairman of The Hope Centre, Adrian Pryce, said: “Hope Enterprises has been set up with two goals: to engage Northampton’s homeless and vulnerable and offer them a pathway to employment and to earn trading income for the charity in this current climate of funding pressures.”

The event will start at 7pm and dinner will be cooked by Michelin-starred chef Adam Gray for about 100 guests.

The evening will feature speeches, a Michael Bublé tribute act, a charity auction, and a disco.

Adrian Pryce, who became chairman of The Hope Centre last year, said there were about 20 rough sleepers a night in Northampton and the centre saw more than 100 people a day.
He added: “Homelessness is linked to so many other social problems in the county. We have a ‘hand up’ not ‘hand out’ philosophy, and Hope Enterprises will help our clients rebuild their self-estee m, confidence and skills.”
Services include hot breakfasts and lunches, skills workshops and health and well-being support.
