Charity shop celebrates

A charity shop in Gold Street, Northampton, has marked its anniversary by raising £200.

The Debra (Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association) shop, which raises money for people with the genetic skin blistering condition, celebrated its first anniversary on Tuesday by selling everything in the shop for 1.

Volunteers Neil Beamish, Sally Dimmer, Ann Cormack, Doreen Rossotti, Jan Ross, and manager Shirley Stonebank, also held a raffle, which raised 50.

Mrs Stonebank said: "The anniversary went very well. All the money we raised goes to research into the skin disease. We will also be holding coffee mornings to encourage more people to volunteer for the shop, which is under new management and has changed over the year. It's a lovely atmosphere and our objective is to keep the shop attractive for customers."

The Debra shop has no bag drops, and relies on donations made by members of the public.

Anyone who would like more information about volunteering or making a donation can contact the shop on Northampton 605056.
