Cash keeps flowerbed in bloom
A large flowerbed in Abington Park will be able to stay in bloom despite the recent poor weather thanks to a cash windfall from the River Nene Regional Park.
The flower bed, home to a summer display of geraniums, marigolds and begonias, is being sponsored by the group in a deal which will see RNRP contribute to the planting and care of the flowerbed for the rest of this summer and over the winter.
Councillor Trini Crake, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for environment said: "Abington Park is a beautiful example of a Victorian park that attracts thousands of people every year. The flowerbeds and floral displays are always vibrant and colourful so I am delighted that River Nene Regional Park are sponsoring one."
River Nene Regional Park chief executive Michel Kerrou said: "The River Nene Regional Park is committed to the enhancement of Northamptonshire's environment and green spaces and is delighted to support Northampton Borough Council's stewardship and improvement of Abington Park, which continues to give so much pleasure to generations of Northamptonians."
The flowerbed is in the upper park near the new rose garden.
