A canal boat in Northampton containing two propane gas cylinders was completely destroyed by fire.
Fire crews were called out the River Nene, near KFC in Towcester Road, shortly before 4am this morning.
A man was outside the 45 foot boat when fire crews arrived and he was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters used full breathing apparatus and a hose reel and the fire was extinguished shortly after 6am.
