The manager of the Weston Favell Shopping Centre has revealed that the Northampton business has been placed in receivership but said he does not have any concerns about the future survival of the site.
Kevin Legg said that the centre is looking for a new buyer, but added: “I am not overly concerned. A buyer will be found and the centre will take its next step in providing a shopping service to Northampton.”
He confirmed that Jemma McAndrew and Richard Stanley, the directors of Jones Lang LaSalle, were appointed as joint Law of Property Act Receivers over the centre in Billing Brook Road, Weston Favell, on December 20.
Ms McAndrew said: “It is very much business as usual at Weston Favell Centre. The centre is anchored by Tesco Extra and is trading well.”
Mr Legg added: “Nothing much has really changed for the centre. It’s business as usual. Our job is to keep the centre running as it is and continue the success that it is and be ready for when a new purchaser comes in.”
The Weston Favell Centre opened in 1974 and is now home to dozens of retail outlets including Tesco Extra, Boots and Wilkinsons.
