Britain's Got Talent: Faryl set for big record deal

Northamptonshire schoolgirl Faryl Smith is in line for a recording contract after her stunning performance on Britain's Got Talent.

Although the 12-year-old finished outside the top three, she is expected to sign a record deal that could be worth up to 1m after earning massive acclaim for her performances throughout the series, which climaxed with the final.

Despite being the pre-show favourite, the Kettering schoolgirl was a shock omission from the final three as voted by the British public.

But Faryl, whose mum is a hairdresser and dad a safety officer, is set to tour with the British's Got Talent stage show and sign a recording contract, possibly with Simon Cowell's Sony BMG label.

Faryl, a local footballer, had been compared to Welsh singer Charlotte Church, but she says she will stay true to her classical roots.

"When I'm older I would like to be like Katherine Jenkins, not Charlotte Church," she told the News of the World.
