BREAKING NEWS: Police called to town centre after ‘explosion’

Police officers were this afternoon called out to the scene of a small explosion in Daventry town centre.

The incident took place at around 4.10pm when a suspected electrical fault caused a small explosion underneath a pavement at the junction of New Street and Little Lane.

A police spokesman said: “The explosion caused the pavement to lift and parts of the town have lost power. Western Power is working at the scene to restore power and anticipate this will be achieved in the next hour.”

There are no reports of injuries as a result of the explosion.
