Boy, 13, charged with witness intimidation

A 13-year-old Northampton boy has been charged with witness intimidation on a day in which police arrested five men and boys following a spate of burglaries.

The teenager was charged with witness intimidation following a previous report of a burglary in Northampton.

Two other boys aged 15 and 16, who were also arrested on suspicion of burglary and released on delayed charge bail, have both been re-arrested for obstructing police in an investigation. Both are currently in custody.

As part of this investigation a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and is also in custody.

Officers have also arrested a 26-year-old Northampton man on suspicion of burglary, and he is currently being questioned at a police station in Northampton.

All five were arrested by officers from Northamptonshire West's dedicated burglary and robbery team, Operation Renegade, following a spate of burglaries in the eastern area of Northampton.
