Boy, 11, airlifted to hospital after injuring neck during rugby match near Northampton

An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after being injured in a rugby match in Northamptonshire.

The boy suffered neck injuries during the game on Saturday afternoon in Spratton.

A spokeswoman for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance said: “The crew received the call at 4.25pm and were on site just nine minutes later. Due to the clinical urgency of the situation, WNAA were best equipped to deal with the patient and transfer him to the nearest trauma centre.

“The boy was immobilised by the WNAA crew and, along with his mother, flown to University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire, where the crew landed at 5.04pm.”

There is no further update as to the boy’s condition.
