A free feast of entertainment was enjoyed by hundreds of shoppers in Northampton town centre on Saturday as part of the second eclectic Knickerbocker Glorious event.
The band stand on Abington Street played host to a number of singer songwriters while bands, theatre groups, comedy acts and a display of Brazilian martial arts were enjoyed by onlookers along the main shopping street.
The event, organised by Love Northampton is part of a series of summer showcases supported by the Northampton Town Centre BID, aiming to increase footfall in the centre.
Director of the Northampton BID Director Jessica D’Aulerio, said: “The BID has made a real effort this summer to support events that bring more visitors to the town centre. We want to make the experience of shopping and exploring here a cut above that of our neighbours, encouraging more people to spend time in the town centre and visit the many businesses in the area.”
Performing on the bandstand on Saturday was singer-songwriter Jasmine Burns, 21, from Daventry, who said the day was also allowed local performers a chance to show their talent.
She said: “I really prefer gigs like this, it’s really nice to be in the town centre where you live, it sort of feels like being at a festival.
“It’s great getting someone random stop and listen to your music while they are doing their shopping.”
