Armed robber tackled by shop staff and customers

Staff and customers at a Northamptonshire bookies disarmed an armed robber who tried to raid their shop.

Police in Brackley are appealing for witnesses after the robbery at about 3.50pm on Sunday.

A man entered the Ladbrokes betting shop in Market Place brandishing a knife with a black handle and demanded money.

Staff and customers disarmed the man, who fled from the shop. He is believed to have fled along Draymans Walk towards Manor Road.

The offender is described as white, about 25-years-old, about 6ft 4ins with a medium/athletic build.

He was wearing clear/white disposable style gloves, had a white scarf or balaclava covering his lower face, a dark knitted hooded jumper with the hood up and a letter A on the top left of the chest and another red letter on the lower right side.

Beneath the hood is another hat which did not have a peak. He also wore dark coloured tracksuit bottoms.

Witnesses or anyone with information can call Northamptonshire Police on 08453 700700 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
