Women in Northampton are among the least promiscuous in the UK, according to a dating website’s survey.
It found that, of the UK’s major towns and cities, Northampton was seventh in a league table of women admitting to low numbers of bedpost notches per year.
A total of 48 per cent of members from the town claimed they sleep with one person or nobody at all each year. The national average for single women was three partners per year.
In the list of places compiled by SeekingArrangement.com, Northampton came behind London, which was top. Second was Maidstone, followed by Birmingham, Derry, Winchester and Chelmsford.
The survey polled 4,500 European female members of its website.
Meanwhile the company found that top of the cities that were “far from monogamy” was Manchester, where 63 per cent of its female members said they sleep with more than eight men per year.
