Album release in wife's memory
A senior police officer has joined forces with three other villagers from Northamptonshire to record a festive charity CD.
Chief Supt Paul Phillips, area commander at Northamptonshire Police, who lost his wife Linda to cancer in August, recorded the CD with three bandmates from Guilsborough to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, along with two other village charities.
The Disclaimers, which includes Paul Phillips, John Brooks, Gip Ingles and Hannah Nicholls, recorded Letters from Guilsborough with humorously adapted versions of Letters from America and I Would Walk 500 Miles by The Proclaimers.
John Brooks, singer and guitarist, said: "When we first wrote these lyrics we never expected it to end up as a released CD. It's been a great project to work on and we hope it will raise lots of money for our chosen charities.
"The CD is dedicated to Paul's wife, Linda Phillips, a much-loved and missed resident of Guilsborough, who passed away in August this year."
The release will raise money for Guilsborough pre-school and Guilsborough Surgery Patients Participation Group.
The official launch of Letters from Guilsborough will take place at The Ward Arms, in High Street, on Saturday, November 29, when the band will be performing live.
Anyone who would like more information can call Caroline Houghton on 07840 846842. Copies of the CD can also be bought online at www.thedisclaimers.co.uk.
