A website dedicated to the needs and aspirations of people in Northamptonshire with a learning disability has been launched by the Cogenhoe-based Caring & Sharing Trust.
The new website - northamptonshirelearningdisability.org - means that for the first time information on the services and opportunities available for people with learning disabilities throughout the county can be accessed from a single site.
The launch event at Cotton’s Farmhouse was attended by Cllr June Derbyshire, Mayor of Kettering, Cllr Roger Clarke, chairman of South Northants Council, Cllr Deanna Eddon, chairman of Daventry District Council, and Cllr Mary Markham, leader of Northampton Borough Council.
There were also representatives from Northamptonshire Police and local businesses including Scott Bader, who helped with the initial funding. Councillors also made dontaions from their empowerment funds.
Prayers were said at the end of the event by Father David McConkey, of All Saints Church, and Cogenhoe’s own vicar Reverend Eddie Smith.
At the same time, the Caring & Sharing Trust launched its new Meet the Ambassadors project, which will see parents and carers, as well as people with learning disabilities, visit workplaces to provide face-to-face advice and guidance.
