‘Incredible’ bakery company quits London for Northampton

The owners of a London-based bakery have decided to move to Northampton after being attracted by the ‘progressive ideas’ in the town.

The Incredible Bakery Company specialises in gluten, soya,egg and dairy-free products.

It was set up by James Turner and his wife, Valeria Mizuno-Turner, after their son, Leon, was born with severe allergies to dairy, eggs and peanuts and with a gluten and soya intolerance.

After finding success in the capital, the firm is now moving to Northampton and has applied for a £20,000 grant from the Northamptonshire Locate fund – a scheme designed to encourage businesses to move to the county.

Mr Turner said: “We really want to move to Northampton because people are quite progressive with new ideas and I’ve always liked it. My parents also live nearby in Burton Latimer and we’d like to be closer to them.”

Discussing the creation of the business, he added: “My wife was the creative chef behind the products, she felt there wasn’t adequate provision for Leon and nothing tasty for him, so she made something else and what we’re offering now is unique.”

The pair, who saw an advert for the Locate scheme on the tube, hope to open a permanent base in the county if they secure the funding.

In the meantime they will be at Northampton’s Market every fourth Saturday of the month, starting on Saturday, September 21.
