'˜I never imagined I could be run down wearing the uniform' : Northampton paramedic

Michael Ryan was on duty at a petrol station in Harborough Road, Kingsthorpe, when Alexsandrs Saraborkins, of Great Meadow, Blackthorn, drove into him and then fled the scene.
Saraborkins was found guilty on five charges including causing serious injury by dangerous driving and jailed by a judge for two years.
Mr Ryan who had to have surgery to pin his leg after suffering multiple fractures, said he was shocked at the incident.
Michael Ryan said: “I had never thought that while at work, in my uniform, I would be subject to an assault by a member of the public.
“It has been a really difficult few months for me as I have been recovering from surgery. 
“My colleagues have been so supportive and I would like to thank them, Northamptonshire Police and the hospital for the care I have received. I’m pleased to be back at work now doing what I love, helping people.”
Mark Gregory, general manager at East Midlands Ambulance Service said he was still incredulous  at Mr Ryan’s ordeal.
He  said: “I find it really hard to believe that anyone could want to harm someone who dedicates their life to helping people. 
“Any assault against our staff is unacceptable. 
“Let this be a warning - if you cause harm to our staff, it could lead to imprisonment.
